TS EDCET Eligibility Criteria to Appear B.Ed Entrance Exam

Candidates who wish to join B.Ed courses for the academic year 2020-21 have to qualify given TS EDCET Eligibility Criteria. Candidates themselves have to check all the below given conditions then only pay application fee. Amount will be not refunded after paying the fee. So, we inform you all to check whether they are eligible or not for the entrance test before paying the fee.

A Common Entrance Test, designated as Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test (TS EDCET) 2020 will be conducted by the CONVENER, TS Ed.CET 2020, Osmania University, Hyderabad on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSSCHE) for admission into B.Ed. (Two years) Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Telangana for the academic year 2020-21.

I. TS EDCET Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for TS EDCET 2020.

(i) The Candidates should be Indian Nationals.
(ii) The Candidates should satisfy Local/Non-Local status requirements as laid down in the Telangana Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order 1974 as subsequently amended.
(iii) Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have passed/appearing for final year examinations of B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science) /B.Com./ B.E/B.Tech/B.C.A./B.B.M. at the time of submitting the Application for TS Ed.CET 2020. Candidates should be required to produce marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science)/B.Com./B.C.A./B.B.M and or in the Masters Degree in relevant subject or 5 years integrated course in the relevant subject of methodology or any other qualification equivalent thereto.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 55 % marks in B.E/B.Tech with Science/Mathematics as one of the subject or any other qualification equivalent there to, are eligible for admission to the programme

However the candidates belonging to all other reserved categories i.e. S.C., S.T., B.C. (A/B/C/D/E), and Physically handicapped should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Note: As per the GOMS No: 92, the candidates who passed M.B.B.S/B.D.S/B.A.M.S./B.L/L.L.B/B.A. (Languages) / B.O.L etc. and other such professional courses are not eligible for admission into B.Ed course.

(iv) Age Limit:
The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.

II. Eligibility Criteria for the choice of Subject under Part-C

(G.O.Ms.No. 92, Education (SE-Trg-I) Department, dated 16-11-2006 and the amendments thereafter).

Mathe MaticsCandidate with B.A./B.Sc. /B.E/B.Tech. with mathematics as one of the subjects or B.C.A candidates with Mathematics at intermediate level as a group subject.
Physical SciencesCandidates with B.Sc /B.E/B.Tech who have studied Physics and Chemistry or Allied Material Sciences as one of the subjects or BCA candidates with Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) at intermediate level as group subject.
Biological SciencesCandidates with B.Sc./B.Sc.(Home Science) who have studied Botany and Zoology or Allied Life Sciences under Part -II group subjects or B.C.A. candidates with Biological Sciences at intermediate level as group subject.
Social StudiesAll candidates with B.A./B.Com./B.B.M. or B.C.A. candidates with Social Sciences at intermediate level as group subject
EnglishCandidates with B.A Special English / B.A . English literature or M.A. English

III. Scheme of Examination For TS EDCET 2020

The common entrance test will be of objective type (multiple choice) examination. Candidate has to answer 150 questions in two hours time.

Part-C Methodology: Candidate has to choose one of the following subjects. It consists of 100 questions for 100 marks.

  4. Social Studies
    – Geography
    – History
    – Civics
    – Economics
  5. English










Note: Part-A and Part-B are common for all the candidates irrespective of Methodology chosen in Part-C

I wrote TsEdcet 2017 with social methodology and passed with rank 4494 but now i came to know that i can also select mathematics as methodology can I have any chance to approached it now .?   2. I have done my B.A degree in SOCIOLOGY and POLITICAL SCIENCE subjects through ambedkar OPEN UNIVERSITY. and I have NOT studied intermediate. Am I eligible to appear TSEDCET 2017.?

        As given in TS EDCET notification education qualifications: He must possess a minimum aggregate of 55% from B.tech field

    1. yes you are eligible to B.Ed course if you have studied mathematics and sciences at your b.tech level TELANGANA STATE is offering to B.Tech students that are indian nationals , can apply for B.Ed and can join to complete the course whereas all the state boards not may be offering to B.Tech students to join B.Ed course

  15. Sir, English is the common subject from the school level to the graduation level. Intermediate and B.tech holds English as a subject ,also a part of their Academics. Could you please let me know why aren’t b.tech students eligible for English subject even after going through all the modules of English. I would request you all to make a renote in considering B.tech students eligible for English.

  16. I completed my graduation in B.com (honors) but took MPC in intermediate. Now can I take Mathematics as option in Part C as am more well-versed in Mathematics rather than in Social studies.
